Don't know if this is just me being stupid, but I think that the sick-fadez line of thinking for denim should also apply to shoes. Just as people cherish every scratch or tear or other form of distress on their jeans, I think trashing a pair of shoes gives them unique character, and just like denim, reveals a lot about the person wearing them. The only real examples I can think of at the moment are ollie-holes on the sides of shoes, indicating that the person is a mad skarter boong, but I bet there's other stuff too.
I guess that's what Nudie were thinking when they started making fade-able denim jackets and even tshirts - too bad they're fuckin' ridiculous.
