push in, push in

I don't really get why people think saying
"Well... this is awkward."
makes it even more awkward. I always thought saying it would result in
"Haha, yeah."
which then encourages me to talk more, which I end up doing.

    It might make it awkward if they didn't know it was awkward, thus informing them that it is awkward so they know that it is awkward.

    as much as I see where you're coming from with the 'most people are really fucking dumb' point, i'm pretty sure MOST people can recognise when they're in an awkward situation or moment.. i mean like i'm pretty sure no one is THAT stchewpid
